In my book I discussed the arrogance of Oasis and that shortly after the lead singers over confident statements the band broke up. While this is all true, it is great to see the band back in action seemingly better than ever. It makes me wonder if a little of the over confidence is attractive. It gives us permission to experiment with the idea of killing false humility. Where we downplay our giftedness to make things more comfortable for others. What is braggophobia (the fear of looking like a bragger) is more dangerous for us than over confidence. When I think about the most confident person in the work walking into a room it isn’t someone who brags, however it is also not someone who is timid. If you have a bias toward over con”idence, learning to work with your brother to sell out arenas takes some humility. However for most of us we have spent our lives in the shadows and every once in a while we need to take our moment in the sun, just like Oasis. The life lesson, together is better and sometimes it is OK, dare I say necessary to allow our giftedness to shine. It simply works best when we avoid comparison and focus on how we are great at what we do and so are those around us. Then at the end of our lives we will not be looking back in anger. All the best, Ben
